With Mother’s Day just around the corner, I wanted to share a beautiful gift idea from one of my favorite jewellery designers for modern pearl jewellery, Claudia Bradby.

The Claudia Bradby Mother & Child Necklace features a solid silver nugget pendant, originally designed by Claudia in collaboration with Kate Middleton (as she was known at the time; now the Princess of Wales). Kate had commissioned a design that could be worn by both mother and daughter alike.

The Mother and Child necklace is celebrating motherhood in all its forms. The stunning nugget pendant which is engraved with the CB logo on the back is accompanied by one of Claudia’s baby freshwater pearl charms to symbolize mother and child. You can choose from white, pink, or silver pearls, and select a silver or gold-plated finish for both the pendant and chain. Additional pearl charms can be added to represent the wearer’s family and loved ones, and it’s a wonderful idea to add a single pearl charm later on to mark the arrival of a growing family. It’s no surprise that this is one of Claudia Bradby’s best-selling pieces.
Why I Love This Design
In my opinion, this silver and pearl pendant necklace is an elegant and well made piece. I particularly like the customisation options of the choice of finish and the option to add additional pearl charms. It adds a meaningful touch, whether or not you choose to highlight the symbolism of motherhood. Regardless to that, the timeless design is simply beautiful and will never go out of style and can be worn as a beautiful accessory.
As with all Claudia Bradby pieces, the quality is outstanding. The pink pearl charm has a beautiful lustre, and the solid teardrop pendant feels substantial, and yet remains extremely comfortable to wear. This pendant is gorgeous on its own, but it also layers beautifully with other pieces from the collection. It has a 10cm extender so you can wear it at different lengths to suit your jewelry and outfit on the day. My favorite combination is with the Lagertha Silver Drop Choker Necklace (as styled in the above image) or a simple Button Pearl Choker. All of Claudia’s pieces are designed with versatility in mind, making it easy to mix and match to create different looks depending on your outfit.
